Robert Clark had a diverse railroad career which included 38 years with the New York Central and its successors. His career path included employment as assistant division engineer, division engineer, division superintendent, chief regional engineer, system production engineer (track), system engineer (maintenance of way), assistant vice-president (design and construction) and assistant vice president (quality control) in such American cities as Detroit, Chicago, New York and Philadelphia.

Robert Clark began his career, however, in St. Thomas as an instrument-man and bridge inspector, receiving his B. SC. in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston.

Beginning in 1994 he went into private business as president of Clark Railroad Consulting Services. From 1989 to 1990, he was president of the American Railway Engineering Association.
